Nemesis is the primary antagonist of Olympus Pretty Cure, a spirit of revenge who aims to fill the Earth with sorrow and misfortune, and believes that no one should ever have too much good.

Appearance[]

Nemesis takes the form of a tall, slender and fair skinned woman with wispy ghost white hair and piercing yellow eyes. She wears a jet black dress and elbow-length gloves with an ethereal look, almost as if she was cloaked with darkness. Her right eye is concealed by pale yellow domino mask. Overall she evokes the appearance of an opera diva.

Personality[]

Extremely cunning and ruthless, as well as harsh towards her minions, Nemesis has no shame or remorse in her atrocities. She thinks good and evil should co-exist in equality, and enjoys making others miserable, especially those with extremely good luck, as, according to her, too much goodness is boring. However, by human morality, her creed is alien and very difficult to comprehend. She actually believes she is maintaining a balance between good and evil by bringing forth disaster after disaster, with her theft of the Horoscorbs and the kidnapping of Princess Andromeda being the latest. However, it is revealed that Nemesis is "punishing" the Olympians for not allowing Ophiuchus to be completely unleashed, disrupting the "balance" she desires.

History[]

No one really knows about her origins, although it is theorized that she might have been spawned from the 13th zodiac sign, Ophiuchus the Serpent-Bearer. It is only known that she brings forth calamity during eras of prosperity, and she has been doing so since time immoral. She is especially amused when she comes across worlds that enjoy peace, making it all the more satisfying to bring forth misery. She is revealed to be an incomplete form of the chaos that was released when the first Queen of Olympia first opened the Cosmos Urn, possessing her in the process, but managed to prevent Ophiuchus from being released before fully succumbing to it's influence.

Relationships[]

Lord Cepheus and Lady Cassiopeia -

Royal Stars - Because she is in possession of their respective Horoscorbs, they have no choice but to carry out her will of spreading misery throughout the Tennenseki region. Despite being hardwired into commiting evil, they still maintain a great amount of free will, indicating that she does not have as much control over them as she had hoped. She can only give one Star a corporeal form at a time, while the rest are essentially relegated to babysitting Andromeda.

Etymology[]

In Greek mythology, Nemesis was the spirit of divine retribution against those who succumb to hubris (arrogance before the gods). The Greeks personified vengeful fate as a remorseless goddess: the goddess of revenge. The name Nemesis is related to the Greek word νέμειν [némein], meaning "to give what is due".
